Frequently Asked Questions

  • Faq 1 - Who receives the income from private healthcare?

The  income generated by Newcastle Hospitals Private Healthcare is reinvested in NHS services at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Faq 2 - What methods of payment are there? Newcastle Hospitals Private Healthcare has contracts with all the major insurance companies. In addition we offer a self-pay option for patients without medical insurance and accept payment by debit/credit card or bank transfer (unfortunately we cannot accept American Express).  Cash payments can be taken at our cashiers department. For many popular procedures, we can offer fixed-cost surgery - giving you peace of mind about the financial arrangements for your procedure.  Please see the section about 'cost of treatment'.
  • I live abroad can I still come to Newcastle for treatment? Newcastle Hospitals has many years' experience delivering excellent care to private patients from overseas.  We ask that you supply any medical reports and scans you may have (by email if possible) so that we can best direct you to a Consultant. As with all private patients, payment will have to be made in advance of any Consultation or treatment. You will need to ensure you have the relevant documents in place prior to travel e.g. medical visa.
